Soil Preparation & Care

Chunky Aroid Mix

This soil type is best used for larger plants and orchid varietals.

Empty contents and mix thoroughly to break up any large clumps. Add potting mix with plant into preferred vessel. Allow water to drain through soil until the water coming out of the bottom of the pot is almost clear and soil is fully saturated (you will notice the planter/pot weight become heavier). Continue to water on a cycle, if soil dries out completely it will need to be fully saturated (we recommend placing planter/pot in a large bowl of filtered water to allow the soil to soak up from the bottom).

Fast Draining Aroid Mix

This soil type is best used for smaller plants and people who tend to over water (we’re looking at you).

Care use will be similar to the Chunky Aroid Mix, however this soil will dry out faster as it does have less moisture retention. Try to stay on a watering cycle if possible but also check the top 2 inches of the soil every 7-10 days, if the top 2 inches are dry water accordingly.

Both soils are effective for use in bio-active terrariums. Mix can be placed between the drainage layer and top soil.
